Grade 2 Music
Parents:
In Grade 2, your children will begin learning to recognize visually the rhythms and patters they learned in Kindergarten and Grade 1. Ask them to show you their notebooks - one of the best ways to learn and remember something is to teach it, so let your children teach you about music!
You will find worksheets and examples here of the things we are learning in class, as well as the lyrics to the songs (for which we use our singing voices) and rhymes (for which we use our speaking or whispering voices) your children are learning in class.

Animals are everywhere,
In the sea or in the air, in the wild or in our care, they’re awesome. Animals are all around. In the trees and in the ground, anywhere they can be found, they’re awesome. Furry, feathered, slimy, scaly, fuzzy. Quiet, howling, singing, calling, buzzy. Flying, hopping, swimming, crawling, walking. Barking, roaring, laughing, snorting, talking. All around the world, animals are awesome. All around the world, animals are awesome. All around the world, animals are awesome. All around the world, animals are awesome, oh! Awesome animals! Animals are ev’rywhere. Some are here and some are there, living in this world we share, they’re awesome. Animals are here to stay. All around us ev’ry day, in our lives and that’s okay, they’re awesome. 2015 Christmas Song: Turn Off That Nose!
Reindeer, may I have a word?
This is getting so absurd.
I know that you’re Santa’s pal, and that’s okay.
Even so, there’s something I’ve just got to say:
chorus:
shout: Turn off that nose!
sing: It’s way too bright! You think it’s nice, but it’s not polite.
I’m tryin’ to sleep, but I can’t get a wink.
All because your nose goes and goes, goes and goes
blink blink blink blink blink blink blink blink!
shout: Turn it off!
sing: Blink blink blink blink blink.
shout: Please!
sing: Reindeer, may I speak to you?
Maybe I’m not getting through.
Just because your nose is red and has a glow,
I don’t need to see it bouncing off the snow!
repeat chorus
sing: Turn off that nose! I can’t stand it!
Turn off that nose! Blink blink blink blink!
Turn off that nose! I can’t stand it!
Turn off that nose! Blink blink blink!
shout: Turn off that nose! Please!!

Christmas Song - Old Santa Claus
Dear Parents,
Please practice this song with your children. They are preparing it for Christmas.
Old Santa Claus is a jolly man
Who brings us lots of toys, sir;
And none are happier Christmas time
Than little girls and boys, sir.
Chorus—Santa Claus is jolly, sir;
Santa Claus is kind, sir;
Santa Claus on Christmas eve
Comes riding on the wind, sir.
Have you not seen our Santa Claus,
With hair so snowy white, sir?
Just hang your stocking Christmas eve,—
He'll come that very night, sir.
And if you watch, perhaps you'll see
This friend in furs hid deep, sir.
But I have never seen him once—
I'm always fast asleep, sir.
