About Ms. SallieRaised in a small town in the United States, Ms. Sallie has been involved in music from a very young age. Her mother, a Beatles fan, played the flute, and her father, a John Denver fan, the guitar.
At the age of 15 Ms. Sallie began studying voice, something she continued throughout high school and college, when she sang with the Amazing Grace Gospel Choir in Rome, Italy and studied with the great Egyptian soprano Neveen Allouba during a semester at the American University in Cairo. Since moving to Cairo in 2010, she has worked professionally as a photographer, videographer, journalist, editor, music teacher, and performer. In Egypt, she has performed with the Cairo Choral Society, the Lions of Cairo, and at the Cairo Opera House. She currently studies with another Egyptian great, Raouf Zaidan, and is involved with the Fabrica project. In addition to singing, Ms. Sallie plays guitar, piano, and is in the process of learning the cello! |
